It is unfair that Sir Jim Corbett, along with his phenomenal hunting dexterity, was fantastically skilled at writing and narrating events. I understand that Jungle and Animal related events can by themselves create a sort of affinity with the reader, but having said that, i would not like to take credit away from Sir Corbett for his gripping expression of the events that took place while he was on the trail of the Rudraprayag Man Eating Leopard.
The engaging writing made everything seem so real, as if watching someone from my window. After reading this book I concluded that his name is deserve to given one of the National Parks in India for his service to Innocent people of those days.
He risked his life so many times to save those rudraprayaga area people from man eating leopard. Reading this book was amazing and it was very hard to put down. Feels just like you are actually rudra;rayag there with Corbett in first person. This book is one of those few books which you don’t want to end since you enjoy the reading but still want to know the end.

Further, the book provides wonderful insight to the simple and often poor lives lead by the mountain folks of India and also on the behaviour of animals and birds in the Jungle. The book is fabulous and is a quick read. I liked the pricing too, which coupled with Amazon’s Free Delivery, made the book a must have.
I will certainly purchase more books from Sir Jim Corbett and regale myself in his adventures in the forests of Garhwal, India.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I had been meaning to read this book for years, having been recommended it by friends, and more so after making a few trips myself to the forests of Central India.
I love the dry-yet-dramatic style of British writing found in accounts from the Raj era, and this book is probably the best example of it. The book not only offers an enthralling and detailed account of the events it describes, but also establishes why Corbett, with his courage, humility and regard for nature and village-folk, forever deserves honour and respect.

Staying in a rugged, very uncomfortable part of the country, risking his life, just for the sake of people living there is nothing short of heroic. Thia book gives you the chills, when you realise all that you read has happened to someone for real. Great details about nature, surroundings, animal behaviour, simplicity of Indian people. At the time of reading you feel sitting with Sir Jim Corbett. A gripping tale of a man eating leopard.
